Festival 2010 is the 40th Children's Theatre Festival in Denmark. It is organised by
Teatercentrum.
In 2010 the festival takes place in
Esbjerg Kommune - a medium-sized community/city about three hours by train from Copenhagen. It is situated on the west coast of Jutland. The nearest operating airport is
Billund - alternatively
Copenhagen International Airport.
We claim that it is the biggest children's theatre festival in the world. At least the biggest "touring" festival as it takes place in a new area of Denmark every year. We present more than 600 shows in a single week, and in 2009 approximately 25.000 attented our shows.
At the festival in 2009 we had almost 130 international guests from 39 different countries!
The festival is completely financed by public means which makes it possible to offer tickets free of charge. The basic funding comes from the local community, the region and the Ministry of Culture, the National Theatre Council and Danish Centre for Cultural Development . The total budget of the festival is DKK 3.600.000 (approx. EUR 480.000).
